Who am I?

Hello. I am a speaker, writer and researcher on Autism with a focus on South Asian communities. I am an #ActuallyAutistic postgraduate diagnosed in 2018. I am interested in the way autism is perceived by South Asian communities and wider international cultures and how this impacts on outcomes for autistic people.

I have supported South Asian parents since 2012 and co-founded a parent support group. Stigma is prevalent in South Asian cultures affecting how people see themselves and their children. By working to break down stigma autistic people can live more happy and fulfilled lives.

What I do

Speaking – I speak about issues relating to South Asian cultures and culture specific disability stigmas

Research – I am currently researching cultural perceptions of autism and cultural stigma

Training – I provide culture specific Autism Awareness training, training in Person-Centred approaches and Person Centred thinking
